I have a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan. The automatic doors locks stopped working on the key pad and on the interior locks. I was told by my Dodge dealership that there is a software update that needs to be done that comes out of my pocket. This is not only unacceptable, but a huge safety hazard not only for me, but my 3 year old daughter as well. This seems to be the standard from what I understand for the Caravan. Once it hits 30,000 miles the power door locks stop working. This is absolutely ridiculous and should be recalled. How do they expect in these economic times for the average working class to pay out of pocket for an error on their part for some software update"?? as you can tell I am very displeased with Dodge. I as well sent a complaint to them. Is going to take somebody to die for them to see that this needs to be recalled?!?!?!"

We have a 2005 Dodge Caravan and the automatic door locks continue to stop working. Initially, we paid $70 for a mechanic who disconnected and reconnected the battery cable. My husband has done the same thing with similar results. The first time, it worked about 2 months. Then, it happened twice in August and has now happened at least 3 times in Sept. 2008. There is only one keyhole in the van to manually unlock all of the doors. This creates a safety hazard and much inconvenience!

The power locks for the doors fail to operate and lock our 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan doors. This has now happened twice. The first incident occurred approximately a month ago when the door power lock quit functioning. This remained the case for several days. I removed fuses and reinserted them back in place. This did not work. The locks began to work again three days later though. Two days ago the door power locks have quit functioning again. I believe that this is a definite manufacture's defect. The doors do lock manually. I have searched the internet and I have seen quite a number of other complaints about this particular issue with no particular answer. I ask you to please investigate. Thank you

The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Caravan. While activating the keyless remote on the vehicle, the doors failed to lock. The exterior lighting flashed and the horn sounded, but the doors did not lock. While driving between 18-20 mph, the doors were supposed to lock, but did not. The vehicle has not yet been diagnosed by the dealer. The current and failure mileages were 80,000. Updated 10/03/08 updated 10/06/08.

At any unknown time, the door locks will not lock, or unlock by way of using the key fob buttons. The button however does activate the horn, which would make you think the doors are locked, in reality they are not. This does not constitute a safe and secured vehicle. This problem has been brought to the service dept.'s of several dealerships with the answers being lightning in the sky, static from the seats, unknown electrical interference from somewhere(maybe space!. one service dept.'s charged $ $36.72 to fix code. The next time though there was no charge"? why the first time when it's still under warranty @ 26,000 miles..this problem still exists. Why??? former complaints from Dodge P.U. owner had similar situation and had to have his veh. Towed. This is unacceptable, another reason cited from dealers service dept was sliding across the seat could cause the problem, how do you do this when it has bucket seats?????"

The door locks on my car will lock automatically. I got out of my car in my driveway, shut the door and the car locked. Since I was getting back in, the keys were still in the ignition. When driving, you can hear at he door locks clicking. The lock button will unlock them but to lock them back up, you have to push up the drivers side window button. Do you think this might be a safety hazard"??" you can't lock the doors with the lock buttons at all in the car. The remote entry key still works. This has gotten progressively worse. First noticed about June 2008 and is ongoing.

I have a 2005 Dodge Caravan minivan. The door locks are supposed to automatically lock once vehicle reaches 5-10 mph. The switch to lock/unlock the doors inside the vehicle don't work either. I have a remote lock as well. Neither work now. It just stopped a month ago. I have to manually lock the doors. Fuses are removed and negative battery cable is removed and it resets something that allows them to work again, but after a few days it's back to not working. This could be a safety issue, in my opinion, that with the doors not being locked in an accident I could fall out, or if it won't unlock I cannot get out quickly in an accident either.

The power door locks on my 2005 Dodge Caravan SXT 3.3L V6 stopped working. The auto-door lock at 12 mph (or something close to this) stopped working too. The switch on the driver and passenger front-doors also stopped working. The remote keyless entry door-lock button signals (via the van's lights/horn) that the locks locked, but they do not lock. If you google this issue, you'll find a lot of other people are experiencing the same issue with their 2005 Dodge Caravan. It's a safety issue - we want the door's locked with our young ones in the back seat. I can't automatically lock them now, nor does the Caravan do it automatically now since it stopped working.

The power door locks went out suddenly on my 05 Dodge Caravan. I had a local mechanic look at it, he told me I would have to take it to the dealer for a permanent fix. He had seen other vans with this problem and changing fuses or unhooking the battery for a few mins would be a temp fix. Before taking it to the dealer I got online and looked into the problem further, only to find that this happens quite often to vans the same make, model and year as mine but so far I have heard nothing about a recall.

Power door locks, stop working. This could be a danger to kids in back when doors don't lock. 2005 Dodge Caravan had this defect. They said it was a software defect, could correct for $70 or up. You can pull battery cable off to get working for a day or two.
