I live in central Ontario, Canada and we get rain and lots of damp weather. After the van is about 6 months old I start to get a loud grinding sound out of the rear brakes after it sits overnight, especially if it has rained.Being a mechanic, I pull the rear brake drums off and look at the brakes. There is lots of lining and the drums are fine, so I sand off the linings and reinstall the drums. That cures my gring for about a month! The real cure for the grinding may be replacing the linings but why should I be doing that with less than 5000 kms, on it.This is another Chrysler problem that has to be looked into! Rear brakes only do about 15% of the braking, so if you get told you need new brakes on front and rear (the first time you need brakes), go and look at them, they have to show you, and compare the new rear shoes to your own, bet you there is very little difference! Time for a new shop!!!
