Vehicle misses and backfires above 2000 rpm. Also loses power. Can shut off and then runs fine to 2000 rpm. I have replaced all sensors except crank sensor on engine, have replaced fuel pump, spark plugs, fuel filter. I have checked fuel pressure at 34-40 psi. Pressure increases to steady 40 psi when missing. Nothing so far has seemed to help. Vehicle has stumped several mechanics.

I will be driving down the highway everything seems find then all of a sudden she starts to miss and begin to vibrate. This may last for a few minutes or sometimes i can pull over and cut her off and it will stop for two or three days and some times up to a few weeks then it will start back again . I had new wires put on it didn't help , I had the fuel injectors flush by professionals it did not work.

Dakota LE 3.9L V6
i had the same problem with my 93 3.9 V6 Dakota. had about 145000 miles and i would be driving along and all of a sudden it would start to miss and run crappy. sometimes i could just turn it off and it would quit and sometimes it would stay on long enough to turn on the check engine light. after about 5 times trying to get it to a place with a computer to check the code (when it would conveniently turn off when we got it there and run fine) we finally caught it once and it actually came up #5 injector. knew that wasn't it. we finally narrowed it down to a short list and eventually eliminated everything but the computer. replace it. ran fine...for about 5 months...did it again. the computer was still under warranty from napa and they replaced it for free now running strong at 176000. maybe this will help some of you. that is the biggest part purchase i have made for it in 13 years.
