1)pulled out of a food lion parking lot and hit a pot hole and broke the main spline in the transmission. 2) the truck now shuts off as you're going 70 mph and when you crank it back up. The engine light stays on but the rev limiter is kicking in at 2000 rpms until you stop again and shut the motor off, wait 10 seconds and crank it back up. Some times its fine, most of the time it's not. Now the paint is flaking off the top of the truck for no reasons. I've never abused this truck and the only "off roading" it's done was driving in my yard. Please help.

I was involved in a crash where I was traveling at 45 mph and pushed my brake pedal to stop as I was approaching an intersection. The driver's side front brake locked up and there was approximately a 50-60 ft skid mark only from that wheel reducing the speed from 45 mph to approximately 35 mph during the skid while the other 3 wheels failed to brake. The failure of the anti lock braking system, which was an uneven distribution of braking pressure, caused my truck to fail to stop in time. The distance was well within normal braking distance for the speed. And until now, I had never had a similar problem. The brakes, caliper, and rotors had been replaced in September of this 2012 with new parts. They had been installed correctly and I have documentation to prove that. During the crash, the airbags failed to deploy. The accident was one where my Dodge Dakota rear ended another vehicle. No injuries had occurred, however the truck sustained approximately $5000 worth of damage to the front end and is considered totaled due to the cost of repairs vs the value of the truck. The mileage on the vehicle is approximately 206,500 miles and all maintenance was current and preventive maintenance (as required when under warranty to 100,000 miles) work was completed at both a dealership or an authorized auto repair shop. After the 100,000, work was completed by an authorized repair shop or routine maintenance was performed by myself, owner, who is experienced in auto repair/maintenance procedures utilizing oem / oem approved replacement parts. According to the NHTSA item # 10016024 there had been a recall due to and ECU failure for vehicles produced just before mine was. I do not know how to tell if my ECU is the replacement one or should have been included in the recall, but wasn't. photographs of the skid marks and damage are available upon request and I have truck at my home.

The contact owns a 2006 Dodge Dakota. The contact stated that while turning left at approximately 65 mph, another vehicle crashed into him at approximately 45 mph. The air bags did not deploy and the seat belt did not restrain the contact. The contact suffered injuries to his knees and chest as a result. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent repair shop here it was being repaired for the body damages. The failure was not diagnosed. The failure and current mileages were 49,000. Updated 09/30/11 the consumer stated after being struck by vehicle # 2. vehicle #3 was lifted up and turned sideways and rolled into vehicle# 3. the collision forced the consumer down and forward in the seat causing both of his legs to come up and off the floor, striking the dashboard. The movement is what made the consumer believe the seat belt did not lock into place. The consumer was told by others, that the seat belt did lock, but it was the belt that caused the pain across his chest and left clavicle. Update 11/04/11
