driver side air bag deployed driver side air bag deployed

Car was parked. Engine was off and keys were in my hand. There was not another vehicle or person any where near the car. Heard a loud noise and saw what looked like smoke billowing through my windows (just the air bag powder). Both air bags had deployed.

Took to Dodge dealer - they sent a third party to read the computer to make sure I wasn't in an accident. Once his report came back, they got a whole lot more helpful. Really and truly they should have just cut their losses and got me a "new" car. Ended up paying for me to have a rental car for 2 months while they waited on their parts to come in (Dodge has the worst parts logistics - they NEVER have a part available and then takes forever to get in)

First the air bag light came on. Then there was smoke under the drivers seat. Moments later, while inspecting the issue, the drivers side air bag deployed. The experience was terrifying. There was a really loud bang and I couldn't hear for a few minutes. Dodge was willing to investigate and fix the problem, but not supply a loaner vehicle. That put me in a very tough spot, trying to get my children to school and myself to work. They have picked up the vehicle, but how long will I be inconvenienced, who knows.
