Ram 1500 SLT 4.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 73,000 miles

I bought my 2005 Dodge Ram used in July of 2008. I loved it the minute I saw it. This past July I was planning a trip to Florida and I noticed for a few days that every time I would turn to the left it would make a vibrating noise kinda like a flutter. So I took into the shop to have it looked at prior to heading out to Florida. I get a phone call telling me it is my Power Steering pump has a hole in it and the noise im hearing is the fluid bubbling when I turn the wheel. It was covered under the extended warranty ( minus the $100.00 deductable ) So get the truck back no problems.

Head to Florida for the week and on the way back it start making the same sound. Didnt get a chance to get into the shop till November 12 2009. They tel me it is my Rack and Pinion. Covered under warranty but again another $100.00 deductable. Ive only had it back since Friday November 13th and it is doing it again. Really pissing me off. One would think that Dodge would step up and fix shut a thing especially if they have had this many complaints on this issue. I will be taking it back to the shop this week and I will be back to let you all know how it went.

When I turned the steering wheel to the right, the truck would vibrate bad. I took it to the dealer and they said that it was a bad power steering rack. They replaced it with no problems. If it wasn't under warranty, it would've cost me $900.00.
