Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

2006 Dodge Ram 1500 slt trx4 while driving the 4lo lights starts to flash and tries to engage 4WD without turning the switch to 4hi or 4lo. Then the light stops flashing and the service 4WD light comes on and stays on. This goes on while driving the truck at normal and highway speeds. Also the transfer case 4WD actuator motor cycles while using keyless entry to access the vehicle. If the 4lo was to activate while driving at highway speeds this could cause an accident and potential loss of life.

Tamara recall I recently was driving down the highway to pick up my child from his fathers in Ohio my truck. We are driving down route 8 North going 45 and all of a sudden we here this noise and shaking and the drive shaft literally just snapped off, we ran over it. We end up swirving all over the place, it locks up and won't move, I proceed to get out of the truck and pick up the pipe up off the road and the bolts are broken off in the ends. Very dangerous. Could of hurt my child and myself. I called aaa and had it towed home.

While driving at 55 mph on the freeway, a noise and vibration occurred in the rear of the vehicle. Stopped the vehicle and found that the fluid had leaked out of the rear pinion bearing housing. Had the vehicle towed to a shop and they found that the pinion nut was loose, the pinion bearings were chewed up, the pinion gear was bent, and the rear end pinion bearing housing was scarred. Vehicle required a complete replacement of the entire rear axle assembly. This occurred at 80,000 miles. There are 17 different complaints on this NHTSA website about this issue for the 2006 model. Yet there is recall #14V79600 which covers only 2005 and 2009-2012 model years. Why is 2006 not covered when there have been 17 complaints of the same thing on this website alone? please issue a recall for 2006 as well.

While traveling on us 290 West toward austin, tx, my rear axle locked without warning. There was no indication of any issue prior to the lock. No sound or vibration occurred prior to the incident. The rear wheels locked and the drive shaft dropped. I was able to control the truck and slide onto the shoulder. The only reason that I was at such a low speed was that I was about to pull over. Had this occurred 5 minutes prior or after I resumed travel, I would have been at 75 mph as that is the speed limit on that particular stretch of roadway. This could have been a very serious accident had it happened in city traffic or at a higher speed. The vehicle is not repaired. Approx. In 2012 I filed a complaint that the rear pinion gear had snapped on my truck. The dealership recommended installing a new / used rear end. I had the used rear end installed. On 5-7-2015 while on the highway the axle on the rear end abruptly broke. This occurred at approx. 60 mph. Almost causing a catastrophe. The wheel broke away as well as the brake caliper, thus loosing my brakes. As a result damage to the body also occurred. As I said I did file a previous complaint but was told that even though there is a recall on the rear ends on some of these models mine was not one. I paid the $2,500 or so to have that resolved. I feel this shouldn't have ever happened as this vehicle let alone twice. As of now my vehicle is awaiting a inspection from the dealership as well as insurance.

Turning left or right and sometimes backing up, the truck constantly squeaks. I had the hubs replaced recently as the mechanic said that was the problem but it wasn't. I don't want something to fall out from under the truck or lock up. I was at at local lowe's recently and a woman was backing her Dodge truck to load lumber and it was making the same noises as mine.
