Steering became very loose and uneven tire wear at 35,900. The truck felt like the front end was going to fall off and was wandering and bouncing. I took the truck into the dealer (royal Dodge owego, NY) for evaluation in the summer of 2011 and was told the left tie rod end was defective and the truck was out of warranty. I obtained a quote of approximately $200 to replace the left front tie rod end and do an alignment. I ended up replacing the tie rod end myself ($50) and having the truck lined up ($80) at moore's tire sales in owego, NY. Upon evaluation of the defective tie rod, I noticed there wasn't any grease from the factory on the tie rod ball once I cut the boot open. I also ended up having to replace the tires due to the uneven tire wear. I am aware of the recalls on this truck but I have the extended cab version and the recall is only for the mega cab version"??? I think the recall should also include the extended cab version also. Is there any recourse for Fiat Chrysler to reimburse me for the expense" I also just had to replace the right outer tie rod for the same condition at 58,000 miles. Updated 9/28/15

The technician diagnosed that the suspension was loose, the steering needed to be aligned and the rear shocks were leaking. The vehicle was not repaired. Experiencing early failure of drivers side and passenger side tie rods. (drivers side is worse) was informed at approx. 48,000 miles they needed to be replaced very soon. After some research online found this is a known issue with this make and model and no recall has been issued. I believe these should have been included in the buy out recently announced.

While driving on the highway my steering wheel became way off center. I just figured I hit a pot hole and needed an alignment. When I got home I removed the front tires and noticed that the passenger side wheel bearing had separated and almost totally came apart. I called my local dealership and they stated that there was no recall for this on my vehicle. I purchased both front hub bearing assemblies and replaced them my self.

I had gotten new tires on my truck and an alignment done on the truck and was told my power assist rack and pinion was failing and would have to be replaced. After doing research online about the issue I have found that there areally very many people with the same problem with the mopar part failing while driving or being told they need to replace it. With so MA you complaints about it on the 2008 models alone, they need to look into the issue as it can cause a serious accident or the death of a person. Several have complained that this part has failed at mileages down to 45,000 miles. It sounds like this may be a faulty part.

I just purchased this vehicle and within a week the key wouldn't go into the ignition and once in wouldn't come back out. The vehicle shuts off randomly locking the power steering and brakes. My right turn signal now doesn't go off and when I try to put it off my self the left turn signal activates! this went on back and forth a good eight times before both shut off. My front headlights (mostly right but cannot really see the left while driving) the lights shakes and bounces when I go over anything uneven. Upon coming to a sudden stop the truck pulled hard to the right causing me to swerve into the grass. This vehicle just doesn't drive right. The whole front end seems loose. I cannot drive over 50 or the rear end comes off the ground when I brake to make my turn. I'm taking it to the dealer this evening. My dealer 30 day warranty expires tomorrow. The 3 year 36000 manufacturer warranty is up since three years are gone - although the vehicle only has 31864 miles now. I cannot afford to make repairs while still financed. I'm a single mother of four and always have my four year old in the truck. It's to the point I no longer trust driving this truck.

My wife and 2 kids (4yr and 6yr) were driving over railroad tracks at about 25 miles per hour when suddenly the car turned off. Power steering and brakes were suddenly no longer available and my wife steered in the middle of an intersection before she came to a halt. Luckily nothing happened. She switched the transmission into P, the car started flawlessly and she parked it to call her mom to pick her up. I then got to the car and wondering what might have happened. Reading about ignition locks causing this symptom, I lightly tugged on the ignition key while idling. The car turned off easily. Knowing my wife puts whichever car key she needs on her key chain, I suspected that this may have been the problem. I tried it out and -sure enough- repeated the event. She normally drives her 2013 Jeep Wrangler which has the identical type of ignition switch. This one however does not turn off the car when one pulls on the key while the car is idling in gear. I was surprised when I did not find a lot on issues with Dodge ignition switches and would never describe this occurrence on a 7 year old car, if it hadn't been so terrifying. Never did I feel so unprotected! losing power and becoming a widower is really just one small tug away.... thought I shared.... ps: Of course I will get a new ignition switch.

Replace lf wheel bearing hub assembly - making noise - found to have worn bearing, wiper motor replaced for recall, never had issue. Now it does not work correctly, improper cycling speeds, won't turn on, or won't turn off at times. Mileage ~ 38,000. This is dangerous, just like the brakes and bearing.

The vehicle was difficult to turn the steering wheel when backing up and the loud noise continued in four wheel drive. The contact heard the loud noise intermittently upon making a turn. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who diagnosed and replaced the left tie rod and the hub assembly. The contact was not included in NHTSA campaign id numbers: 13V528000 (steering), 13V529000 (steering) and 11V350000 (steering). The manufacturer was notified of the failure.
