engine problem
This is an ongoing problem. The engine just shuts off while driving without warning. You have to put the transmission in neutral and restart the ignition. This puts the driver in a very dangerous driving situation. Occurs about once every two weeks. The first "fix" was in December, 2012 where no codes or errors were showing on computer and fuel pressure was good. Replaced the fuel control actuator.

While driving at freeway speeds, instrument cluster flashed a few times then the truck quit, leaving me with no power steering brakes, etc. Difficult situation when you are on a busy California Freeway. Dealer says it is a faulty TIPM and will be $1300 to replace.

This is an on-going problem that began about 80,000 miles on this diesel 4x4. First repair was done in December, 2014 at a cost of over $650 where a new Fuel Actuator was installed with no improvement of the problem. On this reported complaint the repair attempted by the repair shop said there was rust particles in the fuel tank. The tank was removed and cleaned and the fuel line injectors were purged and fuel filter replaced. No improvement occurred with the problem of the engine continued to shut off at random times while driving. On regular maintenance the fuel filter had been replaced three times after 76,000 miles. Before this repair the last fuel filter change was at 103,035 miles. This repaired was completed by the San Antonio Dodge Chrysler dealer. The problem continues todate.
