Our Dodge RAM 2500 HD diesel kept blowing reverse light bulbs. After replacing something like 9 of them we finally discovered that the Ram had 2 bad circuit boards that both failed identically: they both warped, and the plastic bubbled, and they would not keep water out of the taillights and circuit board electrical connectors which eventually corroded.
We filed a complaint with Chrysler and documented the problem with photos and help from our Dodge mechanic. Chrysler, despite having the evidence of 2 identical failures of critical safety equipment, and bulb replacements going back to when the vehicle was only a few years old, refused to stand behind their product.
We replaced the circuit boards with LED circuit boards.
They began behaving strangely - one stopped working. Then it started working but double-flashed when the turn signal was used. Now it is working fine. Apparently these are all because of Dodge's TIPM module. We feel the lights on a truck are critical safety equipment. Dodge's decision to replace the fuses and relays with a Computer module (the TIPM) which is defective and causes intermittent and unpredictable failures of safety equipment is unacceptable.
