The car is shifting down hard occasionally. Had someone take a quick look at it and the tranny fluid is milky - water in the tranny fluid?
Update from Feb 16, 2011: The radiator was leaking coolant into the transmission and the car was gearing down hard when slowing down. The mechanic quickly pressure tested the radiator and saw that the radiator was loosing pressure over a few minutes of time. I replaced the radiator and the problem is solved. I was lucky enough to catch the problem before the transmission was damaged. The repair cost about $600 and included a new radiator, coolant, flushing the transmission, a filter for the transmission pan and transmission fluid.
