Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

Please take a moment & say thank you by donating $5 or whatever you can to the Center for Auto Safety. Notes: The GMC Savana is mechanically identical to the Chevrolet Express.

problem #1

Jun 032013

  • 63,000 miles

The vehicle is out of warranty. However, it only has 63K plus miles on the odometer. The transmission suddenly became erratic. It would not shift to "D", but the second and the first gear works fine. We were told by GMC customer service to have it inspected and have it diagnosed by a GMC dealer to find out the exact cause of the problem. The results indicated no problems were detected or no codes were showing up on their computer, GMC then told us that it needs a new transmission. We could not afford a newly rebuilt transmission.
