I bought this truck from its first owner, and the truck was in amazing shape, and the price was right. An hour after putting my plates on it and driving around, I definitely loved the power of the 5.3L. Utterly amazing.
But, an hour after buying it, I was blindsided by a CALFRAC WELL SERVICES chemical hauler, on the passenger side front. The tractor trailer unit was going about 70, sped through a light which had recently turned red, and hit me as I turned to clear the intersection. I walked away unscathed (thank god I drive trucks), but my jeans were covered in paint from the dash, and my neck was a little strained. THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY!
I talked to my friends RCMP father, and he said that all it takes is about 20km/hr in a collision to deploy the airbags in modern vehicles.
The wheel on the passenger side is more or less tucked under the motor, and the whole front of the truck is a mangled mess. I am simply waiting for the definitive nod that the truck is written off.
