Bought the truck with 61,000 miles on it, noticed that the cruise control didn't work, and the automatic cylinder displacement (V4 / V8 Mode) didn't operate too much.
Found out the cause was the brake light switch, while the lights still functioned, the other circuits on the switch went bad and the cruise control and auto displacement thought I was riding the brakes.
Fairly straightforward procedure if you're good with hand tools, and the sensor was cheap. Still, I think components of a brake system (especially the lights) should be built with more caution.
