Power window regulator took a dump while snowing, a less than ideal time for one to fail. SMH.

Truck is 2014 with only 76,100 miles. Would not expect this issue with this low of miles. Definitely last GMC I will purchase.

problem #1

Dec 152013

Sierra 1500 SLE 5.3L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 300 miles

I leased this vehicle in November, 2013. About a month later, I had window vent visors installed by a qualified auto window business. After installing the vent visors, the driver's door window started malfunctioning. When I used the auto up switch, the window would go all the way up and then immediately go back down. The only way I could set the window at the desired opening was to continually play with the switch as the window was going up.

I took the vehicle back to the dealer and they diagnosed the window motor as being defective and replaced it. The problem continued to exist and I have returned to the dealer approximately 6 or 7 times with the same complaint. I was then advised by the service manager that the problem was a factory defect and they had notified the GM Tech Dept. and was told by someone at the tech dept that they were aware of the problem and they was working on developing new software for the problem. I have continued to check with the dealer as to the progress of the software being developed and was told no software had been developed and they did not know when or if it would be developed and made available.

It is extremely aggravating and dangerous when I'm driving and trying to raise the window and the window continues to go up and down automatically, especially if I get into a hard rain & need to get the window up quickly. I also purchased a different style of vent visors, upon the advise of the service manager, to see if that would cure the problem, it did not. I had the vent visors put on all four doors, but the driver's door window is the only one experiencing this problem.

I am well pleased with this vehicle and like the handling, appearance and operation of the vehicle, but I am beginning to think I won't ever have another GMC truck if this is the way they are going to treat their customers. These vehicles are not cheap to own or to operate and while my problem is not life threatening, it is extremely agitating and unnecessary. I have followed every suggestion and all the advise the dealer has given me, with the extra cost coming out of my pocket, but nothing has solved the problem and GM just seems to not give a damn! Is there any help by anyone to solve this problem out there?
