2015 all-terrain 1500 Sierra the drivers side all lifters had to be replaced. This is a lifter problem. This problem was resolved out of warranty. My out of pocket was 5146.43. this is a lifter problem that hasn't been resolved.
Lifters are starting to go out prematurely due to the AFM. Installed an AFM disabler to put a band aid on the fix; I can't afford new lifters as the Torque converter went out the month before....
I'm not sure what the problem is yet, but having an engine problem before 100K miles is not ideal. The factory warranty is expired, and this is not the first issue that I have had with this vehicle. I've had the transmission fluid replaced due to slippage within the gears, and the transmission internal harness was replaced to fix an intermittent fluid temperature reading. I've also replaced the AC condenser due to a leak in the bottom corner that released all of the Freon. The front and rear shocks and struts have been repaired or replaced due to a rumbling suspension noise.
The engine tick was noticed a few days ago and sounds like it's on the passenger side. I have not removed the valve cover to inspect for any broken parts.
I TELL YOU THAT GM IS SOME CHARACTER. THEY HAVE KNOWN ABOUT THE TAPPING KNOCKING NOISE IN THIS VEHICLE'S ENGINE (5.3) FOR AT LEAST 10 YEARS, YET THEY ACT LIKE THEY ARE DUMBFOUNDED. HECK, THEY HAVE EVEN HAD LAWSUITS FILED AGAINST THEM FOR THE ISSUES.
IN MY !5 SIERRA, THE NOISE STARTED AT 79,000 MILES UNDER WARRANTY. THEY TRIED TO FIX THE PROBLEM'S BUT DID A VERY BAD JOB. THEY DID A LIFTER AND #7 INJECTOR REPLACEMENT JOB AND SCREWED IT UP. I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET THEM TO CORRECT THEIR MESS UP FOR ABOUT 2 YEARS. ALL THEY DO IS GIVE YOU THE BS, NEVER OWNING UP TO THEIR SHORTCOMING. THEY ARE A COMPANY THAT VICTIMIZES THEIR CUSTOMERS, STRAIGHT UP CROOKS.
I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER GM VEHICLE NEW OR USED. I HOPE THIS HELP SOMEONE. I AM THINKING ABOUT A CLASS ACTION SUIT, BUT PEOPLE NEED TO SPEAK UP. I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE DEALING WITH THE SAME ISSUES, BUT WILL NOT SPEAK UP. ANYBODY WANT TO GET IN ON THE CLASS, I SUGGEST YOU TRY TO GET IN TOUCH WITH ME. I'M THRU PLAYING AROUND WITH THEM.
