Terrain SLT 4 cyl

Driving around 50 MPH in pouring rain and my windshield wiper disconnected and got lodged in the left upright position on the outside of my windshield. I had to lean out my window to see where I could safely pull over. This could've resulted in a terrible accident if people were driving behind me as I could NOT SEE anything at the time. Turned off the car and restarted and windshield wipers don't work at all. Motor runs but they do not move.

I checked all the instruments on the panel and everything worked fine before purchasing the Terrain. The very next day it happened to rain, so I tried to turn on the front windshield wipers and nothing - they did not work, but the rear wiper worked perfectly fine. After trying to trace a faulty fuse and the dealership saying that they is nothing they can do, I took it to be serviced and was told that the wiper motor was blown and so I replaced it out of my pocket for a new wiper motor for the cost of $232.50.

My wiper blades stopped working during a heavy constant rain. It was about 9:00pm, we were on the interstate, my husband was driving and both of my children were in the car. It was horrible. The traffic was heavy and visibility lost was immediate. We managed to make it to the side of the road. It is an experience that we will never forget. It leaves you with a fear that this could happen again.

Terrain SLT 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission

While operating the vehicle in a heavy rain the front windshield wipers stopped working. This created an immediate loss of visibility. Researching the problem found that the windshield wiper linkage became disconnected at the motor. (from a previous post) “The linkage is connected with a simple snap-in ball and socket joint. The socket portion of the joint assembly appears to be a nylon type material. It is believed that over time the socket wore to the point that the ball was able to become disengaged from the socket.” The windshield wipers were operating at their highest setting when this incident occurred.
