A bad moment, when driving on the NJ Turnpike between exits 3 and 5 on June 20th at approximately 3:20pm. There was a downpour, very bad rain, and the windshield wipers stopped dead. I couldn't see anything in front of me. had to slowly ease over to the shoulder of turnpike. It was a very small shoulder - I was afraid I'd be hit and killed to be honest. Had to wait for the rain to stop so I could get home. Very scary situation.

I find out that GMC did a recall on the 2013 Terrains, yet the same part is in the model I have and also should have been a recall. I definitely could have been killed or hurt someone else. GMC MUST STEP UP!!! I would like to be reimbursed for the money I spent to fix this. I am not happy they know the part is faulty yet did not alert anyone. Fortunately I was able to find a mechanic to fix the problem the next morning. He alerted me to the existing problem that GMC is keeping quiet.

Started my vehicle, scraped the windshield, turned on the wipers...bingo ...passenger side working fine, drivers side...nothing!! My husband took the wiper motor assembly out , and one arm was was completely detached! When he removed the unit, he discovered that the ball joints (3)on the arms were worn and 1 would not stay attached to the bushing.

Upon calling our dealership for replacement parts, we were told that we would have to buy a complete assembly at substantial cost, because GM does not sell only the replacement parts individually!! And YES they were aware that this is an ongoing problem, but there is no recall for this on the 2011 Terrain, so it is our problem...Don't understand why GM will put out a recall on the 2016 model( same problem) and ignore the issue on older models???. Ya know I have a hard enough time convincing my hubby to buy GMC/CHEVY products as it is!!

Does someone have to be killed (or more likely multiple someones) before this DANGEROUS problem is addressed?!

Friday October 12, 2018 here in wonderful Ohio my fiance and I were taking my son to his dads. Well it was raining and we were about a mile away from home (which in reading other stories we were kind of lucky) when our windshield wipers just stopped working in the upright position. This could have caused a major accident considering we were on our way to get on the expressway. We pulled into a gas station and made it home safely due to my fiance sticking his head out the window in the damn rain over some faulty windshield wipers that GM does not want to take responsibility for what so ever. This could have easily cost lives. The lady on the phone says it from wear and tear, how can that be so when the same issue is on newer models? We have only had this vehicle (2011 GMC Terrain) for 3 months now. Will they not be satisfied until lives are actually lost do to their faulty parts?
