Received recall notice for instrument panel cluster. Recall would only be covered if instrument panel cluster failed or within 7 years or 70,000 miles. Instrument panel cluster failed exactly as described in recall at approx. 167,000 miles. Only reason we know it failed was a speeding ticket was issued for 58 mph in a 45 mph zone. Car was being driven at 45 mph. Certified GMC service center confirmed instrument cluster was faulty. Cost to repair was $515.62 plus cost of speeding ticket. I feel GMC should cover cost of repair.

The instrument panel gauges are sticking the odometer is not working at all the oil gauge is pinned and the other gauges also stick. The odometer and oil gauge is all the time and nothing has been done to repair the problem GM has informed me that they will not help me get this very dangerous defect repaired. This is a defect in the panel cluster not wear and tear or anything we have done.

2003 GMC Yukon - speedometer stopped working. This appears a common problem and is a safety concern as it is extremely difficult to monitor and maintain speed appropirately.

My vehicle is a 2003 GMC Yukon. The speedometer is not registering, and when (the gauge) is trying to operate, the vehicle hesitates while accelerating and the gauge does the same as well as the gas gauge. I know all my dashboard gauges need to be checked for malfunction. This began two weeks ago, I called doug henry of farmville to check my vehicle for recalls, only to find out it is not listed. My husband has a 2003 GMC Yukon XL, he received a letter describing this problem and got information to get it fixed free of charge. I am not responsible for this problem and I believe there are other vehicles affected in this particular recall.

The contact owns a 2003 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that the speedometer did not function correctly. Occasionally, the speedometer would not work at all. The other instrument panel gauges have begun to malfunction and display inaccurate readings. When the contact placed fuel in the vehicle, the fuel gauge dial would stop a little below the full line; therefore, she never knew how much fuel was in the vehicle. The contact consulted GMC and they acknowledged the failure, but stated that there were no recalls. GMC wanted to charge her $450 for the repair. The failure mileage was 42,000.

The contact owns a 2003 GMC Yukon. The speedometer on the vehicle shows speeds of over 100 mph and never less than 30 mph. As a result, the contact never knows the actual speed he is driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer numerous times. The first time, the vehicle was still under warranty and the dealer could not duplicate the failure. The contact received a notice from GMC regarding the failure and stated that the vehicle had to have 70,000 miles or less in order to be repaired. He returned to the dealer and was informed that there were no previous failure reports. They advised the contact to bring the vehicle back when it began malfunctioning again. The failure has worsened and is unable to be repaired. The failure mileage was 25,000 and current mileage was 125,000.

Manufacturer will replace at no charge if your under the warranty 7 years or 70,000 miles which I fill is very cleaver for them.

The speedometer will get stuck or go up and get stuck at a certain speed even when the vehicle is not in motion. When you turn off the engine it will remain at that speed and when you restart the vehicle and begin motion, the speedometer will increase thus resulting in inaccurate speed.
