These POS, GM trucks with their throttle by wire is an accident waiting to happen when the computer senses a problem and it goes into limp mode or as they call it Reduced Engine Power mode. I was in heavy traffic at 5 PM when mine did it and nearly got my ass run over by cars that wouldn't let me over and it barely could run 30 MPH with traffic flowing 70-75 MPH. This POS could have gotten me killed real easy. This has happened about 4 other times and luckily I was not in congested traffic those times.

Stabilitrack light and check engine light illuminates while driving down the highway. The car goes to idle and has no power to accelerate, almost got rear ended by another car. Once I got home, shut engine down and waited 15 minutes to restart. Stability track light and check engine light was off and the car accelerates normally. This has happened several times and is an extreme hazard!

I have read numerous accounts of this happening to other owners of this model vehicle and dealer has no resolution to fix the problem, they just charge consumers for parts that are not really resolving the issue. I have taken the car to the dealer before on this matter and they found no issues because the light was out when I took it. This is dangerous for all drivers and will cause a fatality in the near future, something needs to be done!!!

Drove the car up 4,000ft of elevation in 15 miles when we approached the first stop sign at the top of the mountain. The Yukon lost all engine power--without warning! No engine lights, no warnings, no low power mode etc., all gauges read normal (engine temp, trans temp). We attempted to restart vehicle, it wouldn't start. Battery was still intact, dash lights/ radio etc turned on. Then the Engine was reading hot (240 degrees) we let it cool down then tried to restart it, wouldn't start. Then the battery was reading low! Tried to jump it, wouldn't restart!

Two hours later, we jumped it and it restarted!!! Drove normal back down the mountain. Still no check engine light or error codes! Dealer replaced the oil pressure sensor, and thermostat. We test drove it back up the mountain, and it did it again at the same spot. No warning, no lights, no low power mode!!!!! How dangerous! What if we lost all power on that curvy steep road and killed someone? Taking it back to the dealer.....

I have a 2007 XL Yukon, bought it second hand to haul all my children as well as dance team, volleyball team, long trips, and my daughter who is 17 drives it, thinking it's the safest vehicle for her to drive with friends. Lately my daughter has been driving it more. My insurance guy says it's the safest vehicle for her to use. I had not realize that there were problems out there related to the same experiences I personally have experienced as well as my daughter.

She told me how the service engine light goes on and the lights on the panel light up like a Christmas tree; she would be driving the vehicle in which it would completely loose power and she told me of another time where it completely stopped on her and friends and she barely made off the side of the road to avoid highway traffic. You cannot steer much once you loose power since the steering locks up.

We drive on a very busy highway a lot because we live close to the highway. I had a very scary experience where the vehicle gradually lost power going up hill right after I started hearing alarming bells and lights going off and on. The vehicle had no power then lost the ability to keep going, I was in the center lane, mind you this is during 5:00PM traffic, big rigs drive on this highway all day long. I had a near miss accident, luckily the trucker noticed I was getting slower and swiftly moved over and gave me space to move off to the side of the road. I barely made it but was at the edge sticking out, during 5:00pm traffic. I let it sit for awhile and it started like nothing, smelled funny like something burning. I took it in to have it check, nothing came back, had all the maintenance done, oil change, filters, new tires, belts change, they did all the checks and nothing.

Now picture your love one driving a vehicle that dies while driving at 65-70/hr on the highway, where drivers are tired, road rage, etc have no time to react. God for bid any family and children gets hurt because bottom line has to be met.
