When I bought the car, I asked about Sirius radio. I was told that they had AHA radio that was "just like Sirius." I assumed it was Satellite Radio and did not find out that it was not until I took possession. Then I found out AHA is supposed to work through your phone, assuming you have one. It has never worked with any consistency. It endangers the driver and the passengers because it is distracting to try to use and will sometimes come on suddenly scaring the driver. It is dangerous and unreliable.
I have returned to the dealer seven times to try and have it fixed. I have worked with Honda Corporate technicians on the phone for hours, and I have met with a regional director. The bottom line is that HONDA REFUSES TO ADMIT THEY HAVE A PROBLEM. I HAVE BEEN A DEVOTED HONDA CUSTOMER for over 30 years and I feel that Honda has lost its integrity. They are not standing by their product and were not honest about it to begin with.
I can understand adding AHA as an add on, but to not provide an expensive high end plug-in model with Satellite radio is simply ridiculous. I have read lots of blogs about this problem, so I am not alone. Since I have exhausted all recourse with Honda, I need some help from consumer organizations to resolve this. It is purely unethical for a company like Honda to have refused to resolved this complaint. Is there an organization of plug-in hybrid Accord owners out there that can work with me to get this serious and dangerous issue resolved? What suggestions do you have to get Honda to admit responsibility and resolve this satisfactorily?
Update from Aug 18, 2014: HONDA HAS OFFICIALLY DENIED TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM, DENIES THERE IS A PROBLEM, AND TOLD ME TO GET A LAWYER. After 30 plus years as a devoted Honda owner, I'm extremely disappointed and will never buy another Honda. I've been renting a Ford for the summer. It's great and it has Sirrius radio.
