Bought the car new (2015 Honda Fit) from Dealer. It had damage on roof from transport. Dealer fixed that, of course, but damaged the headliner, and then fixed that. Those are minor....the paint began to crack and peel off the hood.

I took it in to my local shop where I purchased it, and they do not have a paint shop.....I then called corporate, and I was told to take it to another dealer. I took it to two other dealers, they looked at it, told me it was obviously not painted properly, but that my original dealer must handle the warranty work. The dealer went so far as to check the thickness of the paint on my new car's hood, and advised it appeared only ONE coat of black, with NO CLEARCOAT. He then went around the entire car, and advised "This car looks like a child painted it". This was/is a brand new car.

After back and forth and back and forth, including corporate, I took it to a repair shop and paid 700$ to get it sanded and resprayed, as no one would do the repair under warranty....I have owned Honda's since 1985. I have bought four cars from this dealer. I own a Honda Motorcycle. The result of this? I will never own nor rent anything made by Honda ever again. The one manager told me that since they have been painting the new Fits in Mexico, there have been tons of issues....I already new that, as it had two recalls in first month...The third dealer I took the vehicle to advised he would repair it under warranty, but it would be several months.....The quality of car being made in Mexico is not anywhere close to what was made in Japan or in the US. Fit and finish is crap, and even though most is modular, they cannot even do that correctly (see recalls regarding latches and airbags, and even support bars, where they used inferior parts).

Honda had been my thing, from cars, to boats, to motorcycles, pretty much EVERYTHING. Now I am selling the car, everything else is gone...but the Motorcycle....Gonna have to keep that as, well, its a VTX 1800C...:( Do not buy a Honda made in Mexico......

paint chipping and peeling paint chipping and peeling paint chipping and peeling paint chipping and peeling paint chipping and peeling

I purchased a 2008 Honda Fit from the original owner in March 2014. The body and paint were in perfect condition. The first time I had the car washed, blue waxy streaks appeared all over the car and this substance transferred to the inside. The car wash company explained that it wasn't due to anything they did but they re-washed my car anyway. When it came back out the paint was chipping and peeling all over the front bumper. The car wash company said this was very unusual and probably something bad with the paint.

I've contacted the original owner and she never had the car repainted. The chipping and peeling is only getting worse. Upon taking it to Honda of Seattle, they agreed that the paint shouldn't be doing this but that they couldn't do anything about it. I asked if I could submit a claim or complaint and they suggested I contact American Honda. American Honda told me that since the car was past warranty (over 3yrs old) that there was nothing I could do. They wouldn't send me any paperwork or documentation explaining this, and they wouldn't let me file a complaint.

Upon researching this problem online, it appears that Honda has had several issues with it's paint on many of its models, including Fits. They have issued recalls for other models and lawsuits have been filed, etc but nothing has been done about the Fits. I find this to be extremely poor customer service and an outrage that they won't take responsibility for an issue that is clearly their responsibility to fix. I've never owned a car newer than 1993 and when I finally get the money saved up to buy something on the newer side, I don't expect to run into these sorts of issues or obstacles. I still have a few people working at other local Honda dealerships that people have suggested I reach out to. Keeping my fingers crossed.
