My wife's HR-V transmission cut out while she was going 40mph, it stopped accelerating (engine was running fine and revving), this was followed by all of the lights (including every single gear) on the cluster lit up. I went to check it out and heard something metal in the transmission when going through the gears. We had it towed to Pearson Honda of Midlothian, Virginia (where we bought the vehicle). They insisted that it was just the battery, so now we owe them for a new battery (& labor). After replacing the battery they found "metal pieces" in the transmission. They were more than happy to charge us for a replacement. I had to contact Honda of America directly who did not call me back for 4 weeks...
I called almost every day. They are covering a portion but we can't afford to cover the rest. There are a handful of these exact situations posted online. There is a defective component that was used in some of the 2016 model HR-V CVT transmissions but Honda will not accept this as their fault. We have changed the transmission fluid every 30,000 miles with Honda fluid and clearly, with almost 90k in four years, the majority of the miles were highway miles. This is the first time either my wife or myself have purchased new, and our experience, until now, led us to trust/rely on Honda... This was a mistake, they are not standing by their vehicles like they used to.
