Was advised by a Honda technician that it was an emissions problem but the code that came up doesn't show what is wrong. They replaced the gas cap but that didn't resolve the problem.

I am complaining about another (as the dealor puts it) "common defect" with my Passport. In addition to the valve train premature wear, this engine also has an excessive amount of oil consumption. Oil consumption is sporadic, but can exceed more than two quarts per 1000 miles driven. Oil consumption occurs regardless of driving conditions or load on vehicle. In combination with no dash warning, the oil consumption can lead to engine failure within the regular oil change interval. Engine failure replacement at over 10,000 dollars per dealorship. No external signs of oil consumption at the vehicle's rear.

While driving at a speed of 20-25 mph, the car will cut off and lose all power. Unable to start the vehicle after that, returrned to dealer for service and car was returned to owner due to the fact that the problem could not be duplicated. Over the past few months this has happened around 5-10 times, however each time was able to start the vehicle. Service department has no answer or solution to the ongoing problem. Nlm
