About a month after purchasing vehicle, brakes failed or shuddered a couple of times when braking at low speeds. Finally ABS light went on and according to the manual this means the ABS brake system is no longer working - have had no braking problems since. Dealer says it's a rear switch that's out, and wants over $200 to replace, but I haven't fixed it since research leads me to believe the ABS system is faulty anyway. Have a daughter I don't want injured in a crash due to faulty brakes.

Was coasting to a stop at a red light. Applied brakes on a rough surface and the brakes failed to bring vehicle to a stop. Had to use the emergency brake to halt the vehicle. The vehicle would not stop even after trying to re-apply the brakes. \ had to shut off vehicle and restart then the brakes started to work again. Took vehicle to dealer, and mechancs stated that it was a normal function when driving over a rough surface for the tires to unlock as part of the ABS system. Dealer drove with me to a gravel parking area and sped vehicle and stepped on brakes and it did to him what it did to me. He stated that this was a normal function. This has happened 8 times this year alone and continues to scare the heck out of me when it happens. 2 times almost caused me to bump another vehicle from behind but used emergency break to halt vehicle.
