It seams that Hyundai has a definite problem with the two fuel sensors under the back seats. They told me that the problem was concurring because of the ethanol in the fuel. Since we have had ethanol in the fuel for many years, I find this to be a preventable problem but Hyundai has not seen fit to issue any recalls. I have to keep track of mileage to know when to fill up again. To me it's not worth having Hyundai repair it to the tune of $500+. I can do it myself for about $160 but really don't want to have to do it. I'm thinking it may be time to trade cars but should I get a newer Santa Fe? I like the vehicle but!!!

This has happened twice now in 2 separate years. Paid to fix it the first time and now it is happening again. Is this happening to other 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe's? It is pretty unsettling never knowing how much gas you really have in your car especially transporting your children. Hyundai said my car may shut off if the sensor reads that their is less gas in the car then there actually is.

Spend 50 dollars on gas after two days fuel gauge light comes on after driving only 25 kil. Start the car next day fuel gauge light off shows 1/4 tank. Same day start the car fuel gauge light comes on again.

u

This is very annoying can't depend on this reading, took to mechanic, says has seen this problem on these makes.

Hyundai needs to address this issue this is not acceptable. Families are driving with their children mothers on there own we need to know how much gas is in the tank. Not going to play games with How Much Gas Is In the Tank Each hour/day. Hyundai take care of your clients.

My gas light keeps coming on showing I have no gas when I know there is a 1/2 tank of gas in it. Now suddenly the check engine light is coming on mechanic said sensor went bad. There are so many complaints about this issue in 2007 Hyndai Santa Fe I do not understand how they will not cover these vehiicles as a recall

Santa Fe SE 3.3L

Both the fuel sensors failed causing fuel level to read empty even with a full tank. Also triggered check engine light. Hyundai is well aware of the problem but refuses to assist. I ran out of fuel twice during snow weather. Faced lot of issues. Really annoying issue. Got the estimate of Approx. $ 500 to fix from Hyundai service center. Hyundai should recall all the vehicle having this issue.

I purchased this vehicle used in August of 2015 and when I filled the car up I noticed the fuel gauge didn't read full. Within a few minutes the fuel hand dropped below half full. I hit the trip button to see what the range display was reporting and it was dropping like a rock (started at 200+ miles and dropped down to less than 100 miles). Then a few minutes after that the empty light came on and the check engine light came on. I took it to Autozone and they diagnosed it with a P0460. This appears to be a frequent problem on this model car.

There are many complaints about this issue with this make and model. I am wondering why this has not been recalled. I will be contacting my State representatives about this as this is wrong. When there is defect in a product and it there are this many complaints there should be a recall or it should be fixed for free at the dealership. I intend to get a bill sponsored to change this into law.

The gas gauge is fluctuating from full to empty with the engine light on. Once I get to about 2/3 the needle drops to empty and fuel light comes on. I see their have been numerous complaints about this and feel Hyundai should recall or at least pay me for my expense to have it repaired. $300

I have had numerous issues with the sensors for the fuel tank. It doesn't display how much gas.It stops the pump even though the tank isn't filled. The car stalls right after I fill it up with gas.

Santa Fe 3.8L V6

Fuel gauge will show that I have 1/2 tank of gas, then the next day it will show empty with the empty light on....Just filled up my Santa Fe will a full tank of gas, drove 10 miles and now the engine light is on.

I just had $590 dollars worth of work on my Santa Fe in March 2015 and now this.....they told me at Victorville Hyundai (great place by the way) that the fuel gauge sensors will cost $605.00 to repair and by the way these just went out of the warranty about 6 months ago at 60,000 miles. Nothing ever seems to go wrong until the warranty is up!

I will be getting this fixed because I don't want to be on the side of the road with "no gas" in the middle of the night with the predators out there.....COME ON HYUNDAI RECALL THESE ENGINE SENSORS!!!!

Fuel gauge reads erratically - sometimes empty when full, sometimes half-empty when full. Check engine light is always on. This has resulted in it failing the emissions test. There are hundreds of reports of this, and suggestions of fixes ranging from $130-$1000+, but no consensus on the fix.

A defective part that Hyundai should have covered as evidenced by the large number of owners with same problem. Never had this problem with any other vehicle that I have owned. Going back to Toyota as a result.

This is a royal PIA because I have no idea how much gas is in gas tank. Check engine light is always on so do not know if something else goes wrong besides the fuel level sensors. Had it diagnosed at mechanics and very expensive to correct.

Santa Fe Limited 3.2L V6

  1. First problem was fuel refilling-start/stop, sometimes could not fill tank completely.

    2. Second problem was "check engine light". One of two fuel sensors in tank defective.

    3. Third problem was "check engine light" again, about 3,ooo miles later. Replaced sensor was defective and now 2nd sensor was not working, according to dealer.

Going to have a second opinion on this.

AFTER READING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM ON MANY FORUMS; THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL OF THIS PROBLEM AS ONE LARGE AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR CHAIN GAVE ME A $1000 ESTIMATE WHEN SOME FORUMS SAID THAT A FEW SENSORS HAD TO BE REPLACED.

LARGE DISPARITY BETWEEN SOLUTIONS AMONG THE REPAIR SHOP AND EVERYONE ELSE. VERY CONFUSING

DIAGNOSTIC SAID CODES P0464, P0463, AND P2068 -WITH THAT I AM BEING TOLD THAT I NEED FUEL PUMP WITH SENDING UNIT FOR APPROX $980 PLUS TAX.

BUT SOME FORUMS SAYING JUST TO REPLACE FUEL SENSOR B , FUEL LEVEL SENSOR A, AND FUEL SENSOR A IN CIRCUIT HIGH INPUT.

I HAVE NO CLUE WHAT ALL THIS MEANS.
