Intermittently when I press the START button (keyless system) the starter won't attempt to crank. Sometimes after waiting awhile, the starter activates and cranks and starts normally. It may go for days without working, then work for days with no problem. Took vehicle into dealer. Once, the starter would not activate for the dealer. Then after that it activated every time the START button was pressed. Dealer says they can't diagnose if they can't duplicate problem while they take measurements. I suggested they replace the start relay and the starter solenoid, but was told they can't replace parts without diagnosis.

So this leaves me with a vehicle that I can't use since I don't want either myself or my wife to be stranded somewhere on a Sunday afternoon in the middle of a snowstorm or stopped on a boat landing to pull my boat out of the water on a busy summer weekend. I have requested a loaner AWD SUV until they either find something or replace the faulty part(s). Unfortunately they say they don't have a loaner AWD SUV available "at the moment". I also have tried to put in a complaint with Hyundai central customer service, but of course their "computer system is presently down". Will I ever buy another Hyundai? NO.

Update from Aug 4, 2021: Told dealer they might as well keep the car in the shop since with an intermittent starter function it was useless to me. After a week I guess they got tired of having it in their way and decided to replace the starter itself on a hunch by the mechanic over a "click" he had heard from the starter the one time it had failed. It hasn't failed since. Keeping my fingers crossed. Cold weather coming up in the winter may change things.
