My 2004 Jeep idles at 1K fast idle when first started after sitting for a day or if its cold. The problem is that unless you let it idle down to 400-500 on its own (takes 4/5 minutes) then every shift is made before the engine returns to normal idle speed, it takes "a thousand one, thousand two". Very annoying, plus I think it has affected my clutch. I returned it to the dealer (I purchased it new) and they could not fix it nor could other numerous other Dodge/Jeep dealers across the country nor various auto shops and friend.
I should have turned in the Jeep as a lemon but I love the thing and didn't. The first year of operation the Jeep also had a bad engine knock which took attention away from the idle problem.
I would love to hear back possible solution(s) and to know if anyone else has this problem.
