The engine sputters then stalls, when you restart the engine it revs out of control 7000rpm+. The only way to avoid hitting something is to clutch and shut the key off. on restarting the engine it revs up to 7000 rpm again. i tried to restart the Jeep 4 or 5 times and out of control reving each start up. Had the vehicel towed to the dealer and when they tried to start it hours later it was ok again. This problem has happened on two separate times and seems to be an intermittent problem. If I was on the highway there would have been an accident for sure. Has anyone out there had this problem? Step one try replacing the throttle assembly 700$
Update from Jul 30, 2016: After doing some research (and there is lots of material) I believe the problem lies in the TIPM totaly integrated power module. The information stated there was a recall in 2007. I asked the dealer if there was a recall / no answer. If I replace the modual as well it will be over $2000 with no sure fix. If anyone out there has a suggestion I would appreciate the help. Rob
