Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon 3.8L

  • Manual transmission

This issue stems from a manufacturer's defect in the timing cover. I've had oil leak issues dating back to 2007 when we bought this vehicle. Replace the entire short block of engine in 2011. Still has leaks for years. In Dec 2013 I replaced the intake manifold and oil pan gaskets. The water pump was found leaking coolant. Had to be replaced too. January 2014, discovered oil leaks again and was told it was the timing cover gaskets. Water pump also leaking again. Feb 2014 replaced the timing cover gaskets and water pump. May 2014 oil leaks discovered again. Water pump leaking again. May 2014 replaced water pump again plus radiator. Oct 2014 Jeep won't start. Take it to the shop and along with a dead battery, has oil leaks and a leaking water pump again. Was told needed a new timing cover. None of this was covered under warranty because my 2007 Jeep is a early model before the lifetime power train warranty.

I think all these oil leaks and subsequent water pump failures are a manufacturer's defect and should be covered by a recall.
