Fuel flashes from filler neck at every fuel up. I've covered by it a few times, and had to clean up fuel at 1 station.

It started more than a year ago. Everytime I fill my tank it overflows gas everywhere. It does not stop automatically like it should. Gas flows all over the ground and not just a little bit. I know there was a recall for 2008 Jeep but I feel it has affected 2009 Jeep and newer. I read about this problem on Jeep forums all the time. My dealer said they will not fix it.

I'm sure you're aware that this is an ongoing problem with Jeep Wrangler years 2007, 08 and 09 where upon filling up the tank and once it reaches the top, instead of the pump clicking off, fuel (a lot of it) spits out of the tank and all over the bumper and the ground. To Chrysler's credit, if you complain, they will reimburse you for the repairs but it is tedious and often times, people can't afford the money up front so Chrysler wins by attrition especially since they weren't forced to have a recall. I understand that NHTSA has closed this issue but it is bad. How would you like to have fuel pouring out of your vehicle and onto your shoes, car and the ground, every time you filled up? my next step is to report it to the epa for certainly, fuel spills of this magnitude cannot be legal. If at all possible, can you re-address this for the inevitability is that a 'perfect storm' scenario will occur and while fuel spewing problem is happening, static electricity from the consumer could ignite it or even some careless and unsafe smoker is too close. Vehicle will spit back fuel when performing a fill up (at time of filling.). the fuel forcefully shoots out of the refuiling access point. Amount of fuel that spits back is condiderable (the better of a pint;) enough to cover the side of the vehicle, the rear bumper (as well as on myself) and will leave a considerable amount of fuel on the pavement at the gas station. I will point out that I never top off the tank. I simply fill until the fuel nozzle stops - a normal way of fueling. The "spit back" occurs within 1-2 seconds after fueiling is completed. I have checked with Chrysler, and this is a known issue. In fact, a tsb (14-001-11) as well as a warranty extension was issued for this problem, but the the extension was only issued for 2007 and 2008 models. My model (2009) is the same vehicle, however, I am not being afforded (by Chrysler) the same consideration simply due to the fact that my model year exceeds 2008. I view this as a major safety issue, especially given the fact that I at many times, I have my children in the vehicl when I need to fuel up. I truly feel this problem has not been rectified for the 2009 model year, and further believe that I should be afforded the same benefit to have this fixed at no charge - as I am experiencing the identical issue. Again, this should be addressed as it really is a safety issue. Please note that I selected that there was an "injury" due to the fact that I had been covered in gasoline, which is known to be toxic. -thank you for your help/consideration. I welcome a call to discuss further or if I can provide any more info to help.

When putting gas in the tank, gasoline sprays out of the filler tube and splashes gas on me, the side of the vehicle and onto the ground. This occurs everytime I fill the tank. I have tried different gas stations and the problem still occurs. The first couple of times this happened, gasoline had sprayed out of the filler tube and onto me and my clothes. Now when I fill the tank, I must stand upwind and away from the filler tube to avoid getting sprayed with gas. This problem needs to be addressed! the same defect was reported in the 2007 & 2008 Jeep. It would appear that the same defect is now being reported multiple times for the 2009 model. Gasoline that is sprayed onto people and the ground is a fire hazard! I refuse to let my wife and kids put gas in the Jeep, in fear that they will be soaked in gasoline. I have contacted my local Jeep dealership and was told that no recall and no safety bulletins have been issued for the 2009 model. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Filling up gas at station - splash back on 2 occasions, today (03 February 2014) and last week (26 January 2014), the gas nozzle was in the automatic position. In both times, a splash back of gasoline occurred when the gas nozzle reached the full level and the handle clicked. This occurred at 2 different gas stations. Approximate 1-cup of gas splashed out at each occurrence. I drove home and washed the splash area with soap and water. End

When filling my 2009 Jeep Wrangler with gas, the fuel overflows - often so much that it spills onto the ground. No matter how slowly or cautiously I pump the fuel, it still overflows! this has happened on multiple occasions! I have had other people fuel my vehicle to make certain it was not personal error - and it still overflows. It is my opinion that there is a malfunction in the vehicle. I have researched the matter and found that apparently I am not the only one having this issue. I ask that this be deemed a recall - and that the company pays to fix it. This malfunction could cause a fire and other issues related to gasoline exposure. It is not ethical that I can not fill my vehicle with gasoline without dealing with the extra cost, damage to my vehicle, and health risks associated with an overflow!

All three of our same like vehicles at work have same problem. After your gas just cuts off you can count a second or two and gas come flying out where you put it in. Just do a search on utube and you can see a perfect example of this. Put in something like Jeep Wrangler fueling. Also all three of our four door Jeep 2009 Wrangler right hand drive air bag lights are on. There has been a recall for this but Jeep will not do anything fore us. In the meantime our airbags will not work. The recall number is 11V528000 air bags frontal. They say our ours are not part of the recall. This is crazy. What can we do. Thank you

I have a 2009 Jeep Wrangler and every time I fill up the gas, it spills out. Chrysler/Jeep knows of the "fuel spill back during refueling" danger. Gas splashes out of tank during refueling (apparent check valve manufacturer defect). Also, possible gas spill during roll over. Chrysler issued traffic safety bulletin, dated February 11, 2011, (tsb) # 14-001-11 for extended warranty (lifetime) for Jeep Wrangler with 3.8L engine built between March 1, 2007 & March 31, 2008. Gas tanks being replaced. My 2009 Jeep Wrangler (same engine, exact same defective check valve) also, splashes gas back at you during refueling, but is not included in bulletin, due to my vehicle 'built on' date being too late. Neither gas tank nor check valve had been redesigned to make safe, as of the cut off date in bulletin. Dealer service department states that they see this problem all the time (they call it 'burping').

I own a 2009 Jeep Wrangler 2 door model that has been having issues when I fill up my gas tank. I have seen on numerous online forums that I am not alone in this matter. When I use the pump to fill my tank it will auto shut off the pump then spew at least 2-3 cups of gasoline out of the gas intake onto the side of my vehicle, ground and on occasion myself. I have read that many have also filled a compliant so that Chrysler will perform a recall while others have paid out of pocket to fix this issues. I do not feel that it is fair to have paying customers pay for an obvious design or fuel system flaw.
