Just bought this vehicle over a month ago. It is my daily driver but we make several trips to the beach each year. Made our first trip last weekend and after 15-20 minutes of beach driving the "Hot Oil" light and warning chime came on. We stopped, let it cool off, and looked in the manual for info.
Found out later that this can cause the fluid to boil over, leak onto the exhaust, and catch your vehicle on fire. Nice to know; my whole family was with me. I also learned that Chrysler was aware that a cooler was necessary. They placed a small, undersized unit behind the front bumper and a cross member. It gets virtually zero air flow unless you are going over 30 miles per hour. So my choices are to creep around in 4 Low, or risk damaging my transmission. They have virtually eliminated the use of 4 High unless you are going 40 or 50 mph. I can't use my newly purchased vehicle as rated or advertised unless I add another transmission cooler at my expense, and who's to say if damage has already been done or not. If it says "trail rated" you ought to be able to use it on the trail.
Chrysler is aware of the problem and just won't fix it. What a load of .........................
