The clock spring isn't working properly, thus the airbag light is on and none of the steering controls work at all.

There is discussion about Chrysler looking into whether to include the left hand drive (like mine) in the previous recall. In the mean time I have an extended warranty that would cover all but $100.00. I have a trusted mechanic as well who could do the work. Wondering if I should live with the light waiting for Chrysler or just get it taken care of. I'm leaning towards just doing it since I know that Chrysler will out live me.

My Airbag warning light recently came on. I already had an appointment to take my Jeep to the dealer to have the mirror recall done, so while I had it in there I had them hook their code reader up. The called me and said it was code B1B02 and suggested that I replace my entire airbag inside the steering wheel. The said that there is a loose connection in clock spring. They then proceeded to tell me it would cost me $850 to replace the airbag. I refused to have them fix it.

After just a short internet search I found that right-hand drive Jeeps have already been recalled for this SAME issue. I do not feel that an electrical issue with the airbags should be the owners responsibility. I currently have a jeep that I must drive daily as it is my only vehicle and if I were to get in an accident my airbags will currently NOT deploy due to an electrical malfunctioning listen to the airbag warning ding every two minutes during my commutes.

This issue is not only in Jeep, but Dodge, Ford, Chrysler, and many others. This is not an issue a dealer should ignore. One crash where the airbags do not deploy as tested WILL result in a lawsuit and I'm sure a lawsuit will cost more than fixing the well known issue.

The air bag light keeps going off and the alarm sound. After a look on the internet I saw there is a Recall on the same problem and it is caused by a faulty clock spring. And the recall is for the right hand drive Jeep Wrangler Rubicon JK 2008 - 2012 that were manufactured in the USA. I had a check and my Jeep was manufactured in the USA and it is right hand drive. With this info I took my Jeep to Jeep in Cape Town, South Africa and I was told that my Jeep is not part of the recall as it were sold in South Africa. This is not acceptable as this is part of the safety system of your vehicle and Jeep is giving a blind eye even while they know about the problem.
