Similar case on the website posted - during a drive of 280 highway at 65 mph, there was smoke/smell from the right rear door and I exited the highway. And then, right in front of my friend's auto body shop, the vehicle was fired from the right rear door and workers at auto body-shop distinguished the car by fire extinguisher. And the car was totally dead. According to insurance company, the fire was from he right rear speaker.
My insurance was take care of all (>$6k). Reported this to MB USA at same time, but no actions for three months even provided all docs/info. I paid over three months rental fee by myself because of MB's stalling tactic. Don't relay on MB USA Customer center for current/future owners if something happens your car. This was my third Mercedes (ML350, GL 450, E350) and will not buy any cars from Mercedes....
