Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

Please take a moment & say thank you by donating $5 or whatever you can to the Center for Auto Safety.

My 2007 Mercedes R350 has been diagnosed with engine balance shaft problem and the dealer has recommended to replace balance shaft (engine balance shaft). The mileage on my car is 54109 miles and is less than 5 yrs old. The dealer is quoting $5300 + taxes for this issue. After searching on the internet, came across many many others who have/had the same issue with various Mercedes models specifically with engines M272 and M273. Also a class action lawsuit has been filed on 10/5/2010 in the state of New Jersey whose link is Mercedes has also release instructions for this specific problem to the dealer mechanics of how to repair this as it has been happening with M272 and M273 engines.
