The contact owns a 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis. While operating the vehicle, a burning odor was present and black smoke began to pour into the cabin from under the glove compartment. The vehicle was examined by an independent mechanic who indicated that the failure was due to an electrical issue. No further information was available. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 75,000.
