As I was driving about 40 mph my Mariner jerked then lost acceleration. I was able to pull off the roadway safely into a parking lot. After shutting the vehicle off and restarting it I was able to drive a few feet before it happened again. Again shut engine off and restarted. A few days later it happened again and I took it to the dealer who said it was the throttle body and it is on national back order but it is safe to continue driving to vehicle!! as I was driving home a few nights ago this happened again 4 times within 1 mile. Needless to say I will not be driving my vehicle until this is repaired. (and who know how long that will be!). please recall this part before someone gets seriously hurt or killed!

I was driving along normally when the car lurched and the engine went to idle. I pulled onto a lot and stopped the engine while I looked up what the wrench light meant. When I restarted the car it sounded normal, but when I got back on the road and attempted to accelerate it did the same thing. I pulled off the road again and stopped the engine again for a short time. Upon restarting I pulled back onto the road and could accelerate to about 20 mph without any problems. I then limped the car to the dealer, about 2 - 3 miles away, and left it. The next day the dealer called and advised me that the throttle body would have to be replaced (150 miles out of warranty) and the last one the did took 2 months to obtain. I have read on the internet that there have been 27,000 complaints like this one. Isn't it about time for a recall!

On multiple occasions I would be driving the car and it would lose all power and the wrench symbol would appear in the instrument panel. I would have to pull over, stop the car and turn it off. It would then start and I could go for an undetermined period of time and it would happen again. This resulted in more than one near miss by other cars traveling on an interstate. I had it repaired by the Mercury dealership who had to order the part since they said this was happening so much it was hard to get the throttle body part needed to repair the vehicle.

Car lost power during turn..apparent stall..accident narrowly averted by surrounding traffic reacting to situation. Diagnosed as faulty throttle body. Also lost power on highway previous week. Vehicle goes into limp mode.part replaced by dealer..shortage of parts necessitated wait for new part...dealer is apparently aware of this problem but pleads ignorance..that there is a problem...recall should be initiated before some one is seriously hurt.

I was driving on the highway and all of a sudden lost throttle. The vehicle went into limp mode. I had to pull over and power cycle the vehicle. This happened 8 times in 40 miles. Each time the wrench indicator would display on the dash. I checked the error codes and there were several occurrences of P2111 and P2112. This happened to a relative driving my vehicle a couple days ago, and my wife a month ago. The issue seems to be happening more frequently.

While operating vehicle at about 25 mph, the vehicle slowed to a limp. It didn't stall. After turning vehicle off and restarting it seemed fine for a few minutes then slowed again. Had vehicle towed to my mechanic. Code P2112 was indicated and a new throttle body was installed and re-programmed.

Vehicle lost power. Turning it off and back on would restore power, but the problem would then happen again. Replaced mass airflow indicator, but problem came back in a few days. Now they say I need a new throttle body but the part is on back order and I have been waiting over a week. I can not use the vehicle until it is repaired.

The car is 3 years old and has only 25,000 miles. I took the car to the local Ford dealer about 2 months ago because the "fans" were very loud and the car was jerking when I accelerate. They couldn't find anything. Two days ago (exactly 27 days after my warranty expired) the car stalled out twice. I would press the gas and nothing happened. Took it back to the Ford dealer and they said I have a bad throttle body.... the car is still new!!! there has to be a problem with this part!!

My wife was driving down the street in our Mercury Mariner when it suddenly went from 30 to 0 mph for no reason. Her foot was on the accelerator when it suddenly slowed to a stop, right in the middle of the road. When she tried to drive it again the powertrain alarm was on so we had it towed to the dealer. Ford mechanics found it to be an internal short in the throttle body and replaced it. Unbelievably, we had to pay $342.47, after Ford refused to do the replacement of an integral part of the engine even though the powertrain warranty was still in effect and it was a powertrain alarm. Not only do I believe this repair should have been paid by Ford under the warranty, but I believe we were forced to correct a dangerous defect that should have had a recall, as many others have had this same problems with their Ford products and it is extremely dangerous for a car to come to a sudden halt for no reason.

Engine stalled while driving at highway speed, started surging, running very rough and would not go any faster than about 15 mph. The vehicle was stopped and shut off. After a few minutes the vehicle was started and seemed to run normally. The vehicle ran normally until 10/05/2012 when it stalled and ran very rough again. At this time the vehicle was being driven to the local dealer for a check. While waiting for a call back from the dealer the vehicle was restarted and seem to run normally again. After talking to the service mgr., it was learned that the problem most likely was the throttle body and it would not be under warranty. At this time it was decided to take the vehicle to a local shop that we were very pleased with for past service for other vehicles within our family. The local shop ordered and installed a new throttle body and the vehicle has performed normally.
