Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

Please take a moment & say thank you by donating $5 or whatever you can to the Center for Auto Safety.

While driving on the freeway the gas engine to my 2008 Mercury Mariner hybrid unexpectedly shut down at least 4 times last evening. The control panel displayed a red triangle alter and the phrase "stop safely now". this was a very dangerous situation on a crowded detroit freeway where I had to maneuver over multiple lanes at a slow speed to stop the vehicle on the right shoulder (the only available space). The vehicle restarted each time and the problem recurred after less than a mile 4 or 5 times and then has not occurred since. I had a similar problem about six months ago where I paid Ford to fix the problem, but apparently that didn't happen. This is a very dangerous problem and should be fixed before people end up dead if it hasn't already happened.
