The power steering failed while I was driving and the dash indicated "service power steering". I was able to pull the car to the side of the road with great effort. I stopped the car and turned it off. After re-starting the car the power steering worked. The next time the car was started the power steering did not work indicating "service power steering now" and "service advance trac". the car cannot be driven.

My 2010 millan with only 45,000 miles on it, wife was driving when power steering shut down causing her to drive off the road before she could stop it. Went to google to see if anyone else had issues, saw recall: 15S18 was issued but for only 2011 millans plus. All error codes were same as listed on recall, dealer is charging me 1400 dollars and then told me if car had been 1 year newer, would have been covered 100%. just wondering if you could help and see if issue also effected same car being just 1 year older, thanks for any help

Power steering!!!! on 03/07/17 my steering went out. Car veered off into oncoming highway traffic and nearly missed a head on collision!! no warning message or signal of any kind. Didn't understand what was happening. Drove home and disconnected battery for an hour and steering worked again. Left out of my drive and as I started to turn unto road the steering went out again. This time, I hit my property fence and now have a front bumper that is smashed!!! "service power steering" message displayed followed by "service advance trak system". looked online to discover that this is a known safety issue by Ford as they recalled the 2011 and 2012 Milan for the same problem. My 2010 has the same components! there was a class action lawsuit filed against Ford in 2015 for this very same complaint. Both NHTSA and Ford need to step up and recognize the 2010 has the same safety hazard and its owners should receive the benefit of the same recall (#15V340000) that was issued for the 2011 and 2012 models. Please please lets all start a second class action lawsuit for us 2010 Mercury Milan owners that are being screwed by big corporate heads and trust that they will be paying to fix my steering and my front bumper and they should be glad it's not my life they could be paying for from the first time I nearly escaped a headon collision.

On 2/1/17, steering went out. Almost hit co-worker's parked car. No warning message or signal of any kind. Didn't understand what happened. Turned car off and then back on. Operated without incident. On 2/3/17, steering went out again. This time, "service power steering" message displayed followed by "service advance trak system". turned car off and back on. Operated well enough to drive to local Ford dealership, where I was told that I would need a new rack and pinion ($2,800). Looked online to discover that this is a known safety issue by Ford as they recalled the 2011 and 2012 Milan for the same problem. My 2010 has the same components! there was a class action lawsuit filed against Ford in 2015 for this very same complaint. The consumer requested to be reimbursed for the repairs.

The contact owns a 2010 Mercury Milan. While reversing out of the driveway the steering wheel seized. The "power steering" and "service advance tracking system soon" warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. In addition, while reversing out of a parking lot and attempting to make a right turn, the steering wheel veered to the left. The contact had to shift into park in order to avoid another vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the power steering system failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 15V340000 (steering). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure the approximate failure mileage was 135,000. Updated 05/31/17

While driving down the street the power steering on my 2010 Mercury Milan went out. It started with a warning on the display "service power steering now" followed by "service advance trac" along with the warning bells. The steering wheel was very difficult to turn. Turned the car off and waited a few minutes. Turned the car back on and immediately received the "service power steering now" followed by "service advance trac" along with the warning bells. I have researched and found that the cost of repair is about 2K. I am very upset that there was is a recall for the same item but only for the 2011 Milan that used identical parts.

While driving the vehicle the advantagetrac and service power steering warning messages appeared in the information center. I drove to my destination and turned the vehicle off. A half hour later I restarted the vehicle to see if the error codes were reset. At this time the "service power steering now" warning came on and there was no assisted power steering making the steering wheel extremely hard to turn. I had the vehicle dropped at the dealers where I was told there was a recall on the 2011 Mercury Milan for the same issue. I was further informed by the dealer that the 2010 Mercury Milan was not included even though both model years had the same power steering components and systems. The loss of power steering on a vehicle while driving is a serious and dangerous issue. Ford's recall needs to be extended to cover the 2010 Mercury Milan model year also.

Approximately 3 months ago I got into my car to go to work. I drove the vehicle on the city side streets to get to the highway that I travel to work. The trouble light indicator came on indicating poor steering and the vehicle did seem to be steering incorrectly. I returned home and drove my wife's vehicle to work. Next day I went out to check to see if there was a problem. I started up my vehicle and tried to drive the vehicle out of my parking place. The power steering won't work at all. Now I do not have a vehicle to get to work. There has been a recall on the 2011, 2012 Mercury Milan for this same problem. Why hasn't there been one for the 2010"??"

Power steering does not work. Was working fine and just turned the car off one night and the next morning I could not steer. Its a 2010 Milan with 78,000 miles on it. I'm worried to see what this costs. Ford should stand behind these troubles.

A few weeks ago, I had a hard time steering my car at an intersection. When I tried steering, the car would shake as I turned. Although the roads were wet, my tires are relatively new, so I new it wasn't the traction. I turned off the electronic steering assistance and it started turning again. A few days ago, I was turning, the roads were damp, but not wet and I had my steering assist on (it goes on by default). When I tuned, the car went the opposite way of the direction I was turning. I had to turn off my steering assist in order to regain control of my car. There were no alarms, notice or alerts on my control panel. Also, when it's been a hot day or a cold day, the car won't start.

Complete power steering failure!! my wife parked the car in the driveway on 12/6 as normal. The next morning she attempted to leave and the car had no steering. Car started and runs normal but no power steering at all. The car cannot be driven. I investigated posibilities that evening and checked all relevant fuses to no avail. I began researching potential problems via internet and was amazed to learn Ford knows about this serious issue. In fact, they have recalled multiple models and years but excluded the 2010 Milan even though it has the same steering system!!! I contacted the dealer where purchased and they offered no help except to tow it in and they will dignose. There is a plethara of complaints and investigations regarding this problem. All the information I've found is very clear..this is serious problem and significant expense ! this must be addressed by Ford and corrected. They know the problem exists with this steering sytesm but are denying their responsibiliteis to customers for fair resolution!

Received a message "power steering assist fault" and the wheel became very hard to steer. Did not receive a service warning and we were driving with our grandchildren in the car. Very disturbing. The vehicle has about 60K miles and the steering go out"???? the charge to repair is will over $2K. No warning. Very dangerous!!!! must happen often because our local dealer stocks the item but any other time I had maintenance done the part had to be ordered. Hummmmmmm"

While I was driving my child to school out of no where right before I turned the corner to get onto the freeway service drive a bell went off in the car and on the screen it said power steering assist failure and at that point I could no longer steer my vehicle. I had no control over it. I literally had to back up and it took me 15 to 20 minutes to get back into my driveway because I couldn't turn the wheel it was extremely hard to do.
