Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. The contact owns a 2004 Mercury Monterey. The contact stated that while driving 40 mph, he depressed the brake pedal but the vehicle abruptly stopped. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection where they stated that the traction control had engaged improperly. The contact stated that vehicle was not repaired but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer for inspection and they stated that the computer needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 58,200.

The contact owns a 2004 Mercury Monterey. The contact stated that the traction control warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the ABS module, hydraulic control unit, and the psi switch needed to be replaced. On a second occasion, the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the electronic control module needed to be replaced. The contact mentioned that on both diagnostic occasions, a technician advised that the anti lock brakes may not function which was a safety concern. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure and current mileage was 102,454.
