Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

Please take a moment & say thank you by donating $5 or whatever you can to the Center for Auto Safety.

I had a spark plug blow out of my 2002 Mercury Mountaineer 4.6L engine. The car has 86,000 miles on it but this is the second engine. The original engine was replaced in Dec 2003 when it had 49,000 miles on it. The original engine seized up after an oil pump failure.

While going up a hill at 30 mph consumer noticed dash lights flickering on and off. A while later engine shut down, vehicle had to be towed to dealer. On November 1st, while traveling at about 60 mph, engine died. Consumer tried to restart while car was coasting to avoid a rear end collision, luckily vehicle restarted. Consumer felt very lucky. Please provide any further inforamtion.
