We have a 2002 Ford Taurus that THE EXACT SAME THING happened to just last year! Husband drives this car, and came home from work and parked it. I went out to get in it the next morning and something didn't seem right. It seemed to be low to the ground on the drivers side, but after checking the tires etc everything looked OK I got in it and just thought that I hadn't driven it for awhile and it was just different from the Taurus. Started it and went to drive and there was a loud rubbing sound and was going to park it back again when the tire blew. Apparently the spring in the front drivers side had broken while it was sitting there and went through and ruptured the tire! REALLY aggravating since we had the same thing happen to the other one a yr ago! We were leaving for a trip the next day so had to get this to the mechanic for repairs while we were gone. This seems to be a pretty common problem in talking with the mechanic and towing company and yet no one makes a recall on this???? I was currently laid off and we had to figure in these repairs also! And the cars are awesome other than that, but it is never just a repair, it involves towing, inconvenience, tire replacement as well as a whole front strut assembly! Really Really tired of this!
