I was driving home from the store and i was turning onto my street when the power steering went causing me crash into the curb and fire hydrant. I had both of my kids with me when this happened. I just got off of the highway and I am very grateful that this didn't happen on the highway because that could have been a horrible accident. My neighbor was outside and saw the whole thing happen and he helped me get the car parked.

I read online that GM had recalled a lot of their other cars for power steering failure, but not the Torrent. I got my car towed to the mechanic and sure enough the power steering motor went and the control module. It it in the process of getting fixed now, but its costing me $2,000!! I expect to pay that kind of money for a transmission or a new engine, but not power steering!! I will be opening up a claim this week with GM to see if I can be reimbursed because this is extremely dangerous. My family and I could have died because of their defective power steering motors. I have noticed that I am not the only one who had this same issue with the power steering motor in the torrent. Hopefully GM will help resolve this issue with the motors so it doesn't happen to more people with a deadly result.
