I was surprised at how gunky and greasy this m62tub44 BMW engine can get. I was literally using a metal scraper to scrape off layers of gunk. After 100,000 miles or so, you need to replace all the valve cover, timing cover, and oil pan gaskets. This was the ONLY thing my $2000 extended warranty would cover, sadly. But afterwards, never saw a drop of oil again. =)
