Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

The contact owns a 2001 BMW X5. The contact stated that while driving approximately 5 mph, the vehicle surged forward until crashing into a house. The contact was taken to the hospital to treat injuries. The vehicle was in the process of being taken to an authorized dealer to have the failure diagnosed. The contact also stated that the vehicle had been experiencing the failure on an intermittent basis for the past two years, in which the vehicle would momentarily surge forward while driving at various speeds. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure and current mileages were 75,000.

She engaged the brake pedal continuously in order to stop the vehicle from accelerating. The vehicle was not inspected or repaired.
