Impala 3.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 115,000 miles

My Impala develops a definite whine in the transmission at highway speeds when you have driven about 50 miles and the transmission has had a chance to warm up to operating temperature. It get louder under a load such as going up a hill and gets quieter when coasting such as going down a hill. Seems to be less noticeable when in cruise control.
It is really loud when going the posted speed limit of 70 mph. Also seems to shift late when it is warmed up and whining.

Impala LS 3.8lV6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 70,000 miles

I'm not sure if the whirring noise comes from the tranny or the engine. It has gotten progressively worse over the years.

Also, it feels like you get kicked from under your seat when the transmission shifts.
