This has happened on numerous occasions. While driving my vehicle will turn off. Sometimes me vehicle will have trouble starting. Turning the key will not engage the starter, there will be no attempt of the motor to turn over. This continues to happen even after the removal of all key rings from the ignition key. Today (11/18/14), my Impala died while driving and the engine light turned on. The code stated that there was a faulty ignition switch.

The contact stated that the traction control sensor and the service engine sensor illuminated intermittently and the reduced engine speed error message flashed several times. The contact indicated that the vehicle drastically reduced speed and stalled several times. The contact was not able to travel over approximately 25 mph each time the failure recurred. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer who diagnosed that acceleration pedal may need to be replaced but the contact was not given a specific diagnosis. The contact was also waiting for parts to schedule a recall repair for NHTSA campaign id number: 14V355000 (electrical system) and stated that the part was not available. The dealer did not give a specific date for when the part would become available. The manufacturer was contacted and could not provide an estimated date for when the contacts vehicle would receive the recall repair. The vehicle was not repaired pertaining to the failure which was getting progressively worse. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided no remedy. Vehicle was being driven and then the service traction control light came on and immediately the vehicle lost power steering and the whole instrument panel appeared to shut down. The engine was still running however I was unable to accelerate. After getting the vehicle to a stop I turned the car off and then tried restarting it. It would start but then immediately the engine would die.

The battery was showing a lot of corrosion. It was also leaking battery acid. We took the car to a garage in fl. The mechanic said GM had a real problem with this car as they have put the battery too close to the radiator. The battery becomes exceedingly hot and the battery is damaged. I tried to work with GM on this matter, but they held the warranty of 6 years on the battery and when the car was sold to me the battery was only warrantied for 3 years.because I was not sold the battery. GM was. I went to another place to get the battery replaced. The repair man there told me if the battery was not taken care of the battery acid that was leaking could cause a fire in my vehicle. I am hoping you will check into this problem. I have corrected the problem in my car, but there are other cars that have thesame problem and could be detrimental to someone else. Pulled into the gas station to pump gas, after pumping gas, the car would not start. Had the car towed to a mechanic who looked at the vehicle and determined the faulty ignition switch is cause other problems with the vehicle. I can not get the other issues corrected unless GM fixes the faulty ignition switch for recall #14299. I have called several dealerships in the area, and none of them have the part needed to fix my car. I purchased this car in 2010, and have had many problem with it since 2011. The fuel pump was changed 2 times and the transmission has been replaced 1 time. I encourage the NHTSA to look into the entire vehicle and not just the faulty ignition switch. GM has failed the consumer in many ways, and I'm very disappointed with my GM car buying experience. I'm a single parent and need my vehicle to run and run safely.

While driving with a passenger in the front seat, the passenger airbag would switch off for no reason without the passenger moving. This happened a number of times over about a week. Then on Friday October 3rd, 2014 it happened again and this time right after it happened all the gauges dropped including fuel, mph, RPM, etc... so I pulled into a parking lot and before I was able to stop, the computer module in the car died as well as the engine. I ended up hitting a light post in the parking lot while avoiding a pedestrian. The car has since ceased to start at all. Luckily no one was hurt but this car was clearly not safe. I consider myself very lucky.

I tried to start the car but everything was dead. No warning lights were on. The key would not come out of the ignition. The battery was only two days old and it checked good. I had it towed to the Chevy dealer. The dealer had the car for almost a week, they said they could not duplicate the problem. This was the third time they have tried to fix it. Since the problem wasn't solved I can not trust the car and my wife can not drive it as you never know when it will fail. I have also had four actuators and two cooling fan motors replaced that were supposed to solve my problem. Didn't work! either GM can't fix the problem or won't. I can't tell which. Anyway I am done with GM cars.
