My hood release latch has become so resistant over the years. Over the past winter it was extremely difficult to get my hood open without feeling like I was going to break the latch on the inside of the vehicle. Recently I went to get an oil change and although I tried to pull the latch softly it broke anyway. The man at the oil change shop tried to help from underneath the car but realized that one broke off too. Now I have to replace the wire that goes from the latch hook inside to the exterior beneath the car. What a pain because it is always something and this car is just turning 11 years old. I would expect more problems now that is it older but I have had ongoing issues since about 2007. To date, I have never received any notifications of any recalls but I see there were at least two recalls that were made for this particular year car.
