Brought car used 2 months ago, gave to my 21 year daughter, who has now moved to Texas for first job. In last month Power steering error message comes on infrequently on DIC, warning lights come on dash, lose all gauge functions momentarily. Research problem online. GM knows problem with all models with this electric assist power steering and has issued a special message #10183, but failed to list the Malibu in message, even though it used the very same steering system as the other cars in message. Was advised to contact GM directly, but they refuse to repair, even though all problems exhibited are the same as all other cars on this year group. Ask GM to check database to see if this VIN had ever been repaired by GM for the problem as covered in the extended warranty special message #10183 listed above. No repair record found, let GM will NOT honor repairing this car for a highly known safety concern. They insist that this VIN was built at a different plant using different parts from those covered by message. REALLY? Then why does car have same identical problem as those covered? For a car company to allow unsafe cars to be on road, even though they know of safety concern is wrong. This is why car insurance is so high, because car companies build unsafe cars!
