Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

Please take a moment & say thank you by donating $5 or whatever you can to the Center for Auto Safety.

S-10 Pickup EXT CAB 4.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 116,000 miles

First driveshaft failed at 60,000, second one at 116,000. There is a problem with the driveshaft being misaligned. Bought an alignment kit online. The problem is so prevalent, that the Driveshafts Unlimited store in St. Louis is now offering an aftermarket shaft that eliminates the double cardan U-joint. If you have the original rebuilt, it's cheaper but you'll need the alignment kit sold by or it will fail again at 30k to 60k. It's like the 3rd door handle. Junk and something Chevy should have recalled. Instead they just ended the model and started selling the Colorado.
